Following a very successful event last year, the 6th edition of the Natural Hair Academy in Paris, France returns this year with an array of thrilling shows, workshops and discussions within the event. We take a look at last year's highlights, which left many visitors in attendance, eager for the next event. The countdown has officially began. The Natural Hair Academy Paris is preparing to welcome natural hair enthusiasts, stylists, businesses and brands from far and wide, to an educative and fun-filled meeting this year. The event, which takes place on Saturday June 11, will be hosted in five different conference halls at the magnificent 'Parc floral de Paris, a public park and botanical garden located in the Bois de Vincennes in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, and the site of major annual flower shows. Exciting Line-Up A lively and interactive line-up of conferences and workshops have been prepared this year, featuring some familiar faces like American celebrity natural hair stylist Felicia Leatherwood. This year, she is joined by fellow celebrity hair stylist, certified trichologist and loc expert, Dr. Kari Williams. Both hair stylists will deliver separate hands-on workshop at the event with different themes. Another new face to this year's event but very well-known among hair stylists across the pond, will be that of master pioneer natural hair stylist, educator, author and Shea Moisture's Brand ambassador, Diane C Bailey, who will offer her skills and expertise by providing hair demonstrations using Shea Moisture's range of products. Online bloggers and vloggers like Monica of MoKnowsHair, AskProy, JeSuisModeste, among others will be giving tips on how participants can master professional hair styling and make-up skills for themselves. A special workshop designed for mothers will be offered by fashionista Jessica Pettway, also known as JFashionGirl87 across her social media platforms and her beautiful daughter, Kailee. The founder of Bellebene Hair Academy and also the leading initiative of the Hair Academy, Clarisse Libene will also be delivering a workshop in French focusing on growing healthy hair. Some of the workshops have already sold out, showing just how eager visitors are to attend this informative event. Felicia Leatherwood delivered both a reaffirming and educative workshop last year. She emphasized how embracing natural beauty starts with each individual truly accepting their inner beauty and assuring themselves that we are all individually special and beautiful, no matter the type of hair we may have. Beyond Expectations The attendance last year was very impressive. Visitors arriving early at the location were greeted by a very long queue that stretched into hundreds of meters away from the entrance. It was one of the most beautiful sights and loudest statements that could be made about naturally curly hair. This year, the event will take place in a total area of 22 000 square meters, with an exhibition space of 6 000 square meters. Conference room A will have a seating capacity of 700, while conference room B, D & E will have space for 350 seats. Conference room C, which is dedicated to the DIY workshops, will be able to seat 64 participants at a time. That explains why some of the workshops were quickly sold out. However, there will be 5 000 square meters to outside access which includes an outside eating area, making it possible to enjoy the beautiful summer weather of Paris in June, hoping of course, that it doesn't rain too much on the day.
So, as I prepare my luggage to leave for the trip, I hope to see all those who promised to come along last year, and definitely meet new 'curl-friends'. Will you be there?
